Information Architects map out the bits of the web that matter

August 25th, 2009 by Ian

My favourite Japan-based IA nerds have released the latest version of their famous web-trend subway maps. Engineered in such a way to send Boing Boing absolutely totally crazy, they are a good overview of what I very much feel is my part of the web (that is to say the part that I most appreciate, not the part I am most involved with!) Take a peek at informationarchitects.jp/wtm4/ and await for the stations to shift.

Although I recommend viewing it via Zoomorama.

This is an album cover awaiting a band. From a series of photography in the vast Google-hosted Time Magazine archive.

Gentlemen Bronchos trailer

August 17th, 2009 by Ian

This is the new trailer from the people who made Napoleon Dynamite. I have a great affinity with Napoleon Dynamite because I went to school with the main character. Well, I may as well have done. This new film features a home-schooled kid whose writing is ripped off by a desperate fantasy author and, for me, the film could be made for the inclusion of the wonderfully spoken Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords. Consider this the ‘geeks ascend to greatness’ film of the year.

Japanese food in Sheffield

August 12th, 2009 by Ian

Rckt team at Wasabisabi

My colleague and play-pal, Andy, left for Japan (aka weeaboo land) this month and as a treat we at rckt took him for a Japanese meal. y’know? Just to test the authenticity of the whole thing! I was put off initially, because I hate raw fish but it turns out that both the Japanese and the restaurants that claim Japanese culinary skills are all over that. It’s all about the steak now! So we went to Wasabisabi on London Rd, Sheffield for a meal. It was not only a novelty (the food is cooked in-front of you) but also it was very delicious. Recommended.
